10% £100 = £10
10% £9 = 90p
add together
=
£10.90 off
£109-£10.90 =£98.10

its 109 x 0.175 which gives you the vat element of 19.07 and then add together which gives 128.07 and then x that by 0.10 and that gives the customer 12.80 off

109 x0.10 = 10.90
so 109-10.90=98.10
